A German dealer swore to me many tears ago that he would never buy another Luftwaffe Parachutists helmet again as the copies were just too good. This example is just such a helmet. I always wanted a Para helmet just for its aesthetic form but real ones @ £!500 ( and who can trust them now???) were just out of my reach and then this turned up..
Put out as a double decal pre / early war example with the standard liner marked properly with shell size of 68 and a leather liner size of 66. )The aluminium inner liner, cork ( or whatever it is ) and the leather liner are all properly stitched together . Superb aged look throughout. I still find it hard to believe it is a reproduction But there you go ! Being offered for CONSIDERABLY less than I paid for it . It is simply quite worrying in its detailed excellence.. Helmet nuts perfect, Helmet crimped edge very good /excellent , finish, is astounding. Leather chin straps follow the correct pattern. though show a bit too much wear.
Is it a reproduction..????? possibly.. ( it could have some original parts ? see photos )
SORRY THIS HELMET HAS GONE !!!
Any one looking to buy a WW2 German para helmet :BEWARE …. Look and Learn. Best regards to all collectors !! .
